Partnerships

It Takes a Village

We invite you to be part of an inclusive and caring school community!  We’re all in this together, and parents are an essential component of making it all work.  The partnership between parents, educators and the Board of Directors benefits the children, school and community.  Parents literally built the school. From bookshelves and furniture to learning tools, their efforts are everywhere.  We greatly appreciate parents contributing their time and energy as classroom aids, field trip chaperones, special workday and fundraising event helpers, committee members, and more.  The progress a community achieves by working together provides a role model for our children that will be remembered for years to come.

As with any community it’s important to have fun together and learn from each other.  Each year there are numerous events to enjoy, like student performances, social get-togethers for parents, fundraising events, and free parent workshops.  The annual parent workshops are aimed at giving parents new tools and insight to aid in reaching goals and making life a little easier.  They cover a wide variety of subjects, such as anxiety and child development.

Community Service

An integral part of the Montessori curriculum is working with local Asheville area and global agencies through community and environmental service.  In order to deepen their connection to and compassion for the world in which they live, our students participate in a variety of service opportunities to support organizations such as these:

• MANNA Food Bank

• Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries

• Green Works of Asheville

• Black Mountain Community Garden

• Bounty and Soul

• River Link

• Rusty’s Legacy Dog Rescue

• Pine Ridge Reservation

• Heifer International

The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind.
